Soul vs. Ego
HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED WHY BABIES ARE SO AMAZING?
I mean, seriously, there is something so magical about a baby. They are so beautiful, so full of life, so full of wonder, and they have an amazing way of sharing that with the people around them just by being alive.
I was listening to a podcast the other day and they were talking about our unlearned self vs. our learned self.
Our unlearned self is our soul. It is pure and beautiful and full of wisdom. It is love. It is light.
This is what makes babies so amazing. They are all soul. They haven’t learned how to tear themselves or others down yet. They haven’t learned to believe they aren’t worthy. They haven’t learned they have to perform to feel successful.
Our learned self is our mind, aka our ego. It tells us stories about who we are and who we should be based on past events in our lives. It’s tricky. It’s sneaky. It can be very, very mean.
Our learned self also has a job…to keep us safe. The problem is that it often tries to keep us safe from things that we very much need to do like step out of our comfort zone, risk failure, make mistakes, look foolish.
We need to do these things because these things are the things that help us grow. These are the things that stretch us and magnify our amazing qualities. These are the things that allow us to understand who our soul self is.
So how do we set aside the ego and let the soul do its work?
First, be grateful for all that our learned self does for us. Let it know you are thankful that it keeps you safe. Tell it you are so blessed that it remembers your past. Acknowledge it for the work that it does.
THEN TELL IT TO MOVE THE HELL ASIDE BECAUSE YOU HAVE WORK TO DO!
What are you ready to do? What is your soul telling you your next step is, even if your brain is screaming NO??
